The trick is in the phrase "divide 66 by half".

Many people read it as 66 ÷ 2 = 33, then add 33 and get 66.

But dividing by half means dividing by 1/2, not by 2:

$$66÷\frac{1}{2}=132$$

Then add 33:

$$132+33=165$$

✅ Answer: 165

If you divide something by 1/2, you're asking how many halves fit into it—which doubles the number.
