How to Make a Super-Effective Homemade Herbicide

weeds doesn't always require expensive and environmentally harmful industrial products. With products you already have at home, you can create a simple and effective solution.

This natural  herbicide   works great on sidewalks, patios and garden edges.

Gear

2 cups white vinegar (preferably 5% or higher)

1/2 cup fine (or coarse) salt

1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid (the kind you use to wash dishes)

Procedure

Continued on next page

Pour two cups of white  vinegar  into     a spray bottle or large container.

Add half a cup of salt. Stir or shake vigorously to dissolve it as much as possible in     the vinegar   .

Add a tablespoon of liquid detergent. This ingredient will help the mixture adhere better to the leaves of unwanted plants.

Pour the mixture into a spray bottle or hand sprayer. Close tightly and shake well before each use.

Apply the product directly to weeds, preferably in sunny, windless weather. Carefully spray only the plants you want to eliminate, avoiding those you want to preserve.

Work

Apply the homemade herbicide when the plants are dry, preferably in the morning or at noon.

Do not use this mixture on lawns or cultivated areas as it may damage other plants through contact with water or run-off.

Store any remaining product in an airtight container, away from heat and direct sunlight. Shake well before each use.

You can double or reduce the amount of ingredients, always keeping the same proportions.

If you use coarse salt, it will take longer to dissolve but will be just as effective; just remember to mix it well.

Results:
Initial results appear within a few hours and intensify over the next 24–48 hours. If rain falls within 24 hours of application, the treatment should be repeated.
