Why your dog sleeps on your clothes and what that means, according to experts

Dog owners often observe an interesting habit: their four-legged friends like to cuddle up on garments – be it a T-shirt, a pair of trousers or just lying around on the bed or sofa. Even if it may seem at first glance like a mere need for security, behavioral scientists point out that this behavior is based on deeper motives associated with instinct and emotional attachment.

The most common explanation is the fragrance.

Clothes strongly store the smell of the owner, thus giving the dog a sense of security and closeness. By lying on these garments, the dog feels close to the person he loves. For this reason, dogs often prefer unwashed clothing, as it has a stronger body odor.
